Our Story
Hi, I’m Garyad Passmore, but most people call me Gary or Thatdtailguy.
My journey started long before I ever picked up a professional detailing product. At just 13 years old, I took pride in keeping my mom’s car spotless. This small act planted the seed for what would later become my career.
Before I turned my passion into a business, I spent over a decade serving in the U.S. Navy, the world's greatest navy, specializing in intelligence and cyber analysis. I was assigned to some of the most elite military units in the world, serving as the expert problem solver. The men and women I served with knew that if there was a challenge, I would find the answer, one way or another.
During my service, operating with precision and discipline became second nature. All traits which now shape my approach to auto detailing and business ownership.
After medically retiring from the Navy, I faced a critical question: What’s next?
I knew I wanted to build something meaningful that combined my love for detailing with my leadership and analytical mindset.
That’s when Thatdtailguy was born.

Transitioning from military life to entrepreneurship wasn’t easy, in fact, I had no choice. One day I was serving with America's finest. The next, I was broke and jobless trying to figure out how I was going to feed a family of five. Detailing was no longer just an outlet, it was a life line, and social media became my platform.
I started sharing tips, techniques, and industry insights, and before I knew it, Thatdtailguy became a trusted resource for detailers worldwide.
Detailing put food on the table for my family. Once I was back on feet, all I wanted to do is what made me the best for over a decade: solve problems. So, I analyzed the biggest issues facing detailers today and what I found was:
